Meet Roman Anthony, the five-tool talent who has catapulted himself through the prospect rankings, going from unranked, to MLB.com's #2 ranked prospect in just a couple years. Drafted in the 2nd round of the 2022 draft, the lefty slugger has explosive power, elite plate discipline, and under appreciated speed that could make him a steal in OwnersBox Salary Cap contests in the near future.

Why Anthony Belongs on Your DFS Radar

✅ Power & Contact: His elite bat speed and raw power will generate instant fantasy production within the hitter-friendly confines of Fenway Park. His 90th percentile exit velocity speaks for itself, as balls fly off his bat at up to 116 MPH. With more reps, it’s only a matter of time until he can leverage his body and his decisions at the plate to tap into his raw power.

✅ Speed Bonus: With 21 stolen bases in 2024, he can add sneaky points to your DFS lineup. Additionally, his 99th percentile walk rate gives him plenty of opportunity for more steals.

✅ Multi-Position Potential: Anthony primarily plays CF, although he is more than capable of playing RF, and LF, as he has over 60 games at the corners. This will increase his chances of seeing everyday at-bats… whenever the call to the show arrives.

The Path to Boston

With Duran, Rafaela, and Abreu currently in Boston's outfield, Anthony could start 2025 in AAA. However, a dominant spring training could force the Red Sox to find a spot for him in the big leagues. Trevor Story's injury history could also open a path, potentially shifting Rafaela to shortstop and clearing up center field for Anthony. When Roman Anthony does receive the call-up to the big leagues, expect immediate DFS value. His elite power, paired with his discipline and speed makes him a must-watch candidate as a Fantasy Freshman that can make a major impact right out of the gate.
